SKAL – Sites & Bites

Sites & Bites…taste of our ‘authentic’ Island…

Be prepared to enjoy a feast for all of the senses, as we head to one of the most scenic areas of Prince Edward Island! Our journey today will capture scenery, coastal seashore, patch work of the land of Prince Edward Island, while meeting with some of our island tourism operator ‘superstars’!
For a leisurely riverside stop, we will disembark at Prince Edward Island Preserve Company, located in New Glasgow, one of Canada’s prettiest villages. No trip to PEI is complete without tasting their preserves!  Be inspired by chatting with one of the Island’s veteran tourism operators – Bruce MacNaughton! You won’t find a man more passionate about tourism and customer service!
Just ‘up the road’, as we, islanders say, we will visit Glasgow Glen Farms,  a chef jeff mccourtfamily-owned cheese factory. Tour the only Gouda Cheese production facility on PEI. Sample some of their amazingly flavored cheeses, as well as their wood fired oven pizzas! Stop for a chat with Chef Jeff, owner and BIG Cheese, who used to work alongside the famous “Chef Michael Smith”.

A must stop is the PEI National Park, for some iconic views of our famous Cavendish Beachbeaches & red cliffs! Yes, of course you are stopping at our world famous, Cavendish Beach – get your toes wet in the Atlantic Ocean, while inhaling the fresh essence of the ocean.
You are in for a real treat for lunch at The Culinary Table Studio, where exceptional culinary experiences happen.. The Table is New London’s award-winning culinary studio with a focus on experiential cuisine. The winner of the 2017 Taste Our Island Award, The Table is north shore culinary tourdedicated to using and promoting the local foods grown and harvested right here on Prince Edward Island.  Here, owner, Derrick Hoare will join the group and share his journey in how The Table has become what it is today, one of the Island’s true gems in the culinary sector on Prince Edward Island
Continue on to Rustico Harbour, where you will visit a traditional fishing village and learn about the history of the PEI fishery.
Relax and enjoy the picturesque landscape on the drive back to the city as your touring experience winds to a close.
